Aged Care Advice
Skeggs Goldstien understands that the transition to an Aged Care Facility such as a Retirement Home, Nursing Home, Hostel, or high care facility can be a difficult time for you and your family. Getting quality advice early and understanding your options and rights during this diffcult process will assist you in getting the best outcome for you and your loved ones. The process is complicated and without the right advice you could risk major implications on your Centrelink entitlements, assets and beneficiaries.
Below are some of the common steps you will encounter in your Aged care journey.
ACAT Assessment – The first step you need to take is to arrange for an ACAT assessment and this can be performed by your Doctor or a Social Worker who is a member of ACAT. They will assess you and then advise whether you are eligible to move into a facility.
Finding an Aged Care Facility – If you are eligible, you then need to find an Aged Care facility, be it a Hostel for low level care or a Nursing Home for high level care.
Getting the Right Advice – The right advice is crucial in ensuring you understand how entering an Aged Care facility will impact your financial situtaion and how you may be able to maximise your financial position whilst minimising the impact on your Centrelink entitlements.
